    video question

I want to add a video to my web site. What I did was put a sentence on the site with a hyperlink. Something like "click here to see video". But, when I click on the words, a box pops up asking if I want to download the file or open it. All I want to do is open it. How can i fix it so that when I click on the sentence or button the video will open without the download option?

    Hi mmscv,

What file format is the video in? Do you have a url where we could take a look?

    Re: video question

I haven't put it on the web yet as I don't want anyone to download it. The video comes from a CD that I'm allowed to publish on my web site. This is the video: file:///H:/Webs/mmsc/Videos/VTS_01_1.VOB . format that I use. It brings up a video player when I open it. That fine but I don't want people to download it.

    Re: video question

Using .vob directly as a file format won't work in most cases on a web page. (I am weak in video but I know that to be true from playing with it before) If you look here:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/vob.cfm

    pay special attention to:

"In order to view stand-alone VOB files, you need to have a DVD player software that supports VOB playback."

Without that installed on someones computer (and most people will not have that) You will see the download dialog box when the link is clicked on to go to the .vob file.

What you might want to look at is software that can convert that to Flash That will work in most cases for people viewing on the web.
